Cape Girardeau police are investigating a break-in of one business and searching for a suspect in the attempted break-in of another this morning.

According to Sgt. Rick Schmidt of the Cape Girardeau Police Department, officers responded to Bob's Shoe Service, 515 Broadway, after someone reported an alarm sounding at the business shortly before 4 a.m. Officers discovered that a window in the front of the business was broken, someone had entered the business and an undisclosed amount of cash was missing.

While officers were at Bob's Shoe Service they received another call of an alarm sounding at the Tattoo Spot, 419 Broadway, Schmidt said. Officers responded to the scene to find a window in the front of the building broken but no entry gained into the business. Schmidt said that witnesses living in the floor above the business reported seeing a man, between 5'7" and 5'9" in height fleeing north in an alley toward Bellevue Street.

Officers canvassed the neighborhood but were unable to find the suspect.
