Cape Girardeau police investigate church burglary

The Cape Girardeau Police Department is investigating a weekend burglary at a local church.

According to police spokesman Darin Hickey, officers arrived at Overcomers Church, 624 S. Ellis St., about 1 p.m. Saturday after receiving a call from a church leader. Police found someone had entered through one of the church doors, and various items were strewed about inside the church. An undisclosed amount of money and a projector were reported stolen, Hickey said.

Hickey said no suspects were in custody Monday afternoon and the case was under investigation. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the police department at 335-6621 or Southeast Missouri Crime Stoppers at 339-6312.
