A Cape Girardeau man accused of stalking a female White Castle employee was sentenced Tuesday to six months in jail with a suspended execution of sentence before Associate Circuit Judge Scott Thomsen.

In addition to the suspended sentence, Kenneth Baublitz, 52, will be on supervised probation for two years and must not enter White Castle.

Before sentencing, Thomsen denied a motion filed Tuesday by Baublitz's attorney, David Newell, requesting a new trial.

Baublitz was found guilty of the misdemeanor charge Dec. 8. The 39-year-old victim, who testified at Baublitz's bench trial, said Baublitz was a frequent customer and left love letters on her car. The victim reported the incident to police after Baublitz followed her home to Farmington, Mo., after her shift ended.

In a statement before sentencing, Baublitz said he was sorry for the incident and had no intention of causing any trauma to the employee.

"I'd just like for a restaurant to be open and I'd like my food to be prepared the way I ordered it," he said.

Baublitz must also undergo a mental health evaluation and follow any recommendations offered to him by the doctor.
