A Cape Girardeau man pleaded guilty to child pornography in federal court Wednesday, according to a news release from United States Attorney Catherine Hanaway.
Gregory A. Kohl, 50, pleaded guilty to one felony count of producing child pornography before U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber on Wednesday, the news release said.
With the plea, Kohl admitted that around December 2006, he used a Polaroid camera to take nude photographs of a minor female engaged in sexually explicit activities. The Polaroid film was made in Holland, allowing the federal government to prosecute Kohl, since interstate and foreign commerce were involved.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative to protect children from online exploitation.
Kohl now faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing will be May 13 in Cape Girardeau.
