A Cape Girardeau man died and two teens were seriously injured in an accident near Scott City on Friday evening.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported at 9:19 p.m. Friday on Interstate 55 at the 88.6-mile marker that Winston O. Williford, 56, was driving north when his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a guardrail and overturned down an embankment.

Williford was pronounced dead at the scene by Scott County Coroner Scott Amick.

Passengers in Williford's vehicle, Morgan B. Campbell, 17, of Scott City and Winston O. Williford, 17, of Cape Girardeau, were taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
