HAYTI, Mo. -- A Cape Girardeau man has been charged following an attempted shooting in Hayti, the Daily Dunklin Democrat reported. Jeffrey M. Bogan, 25, was charged Wednesday with one count of second-degree assault, one count of unlawful use of a weapon and one count of armed criminal action. Investigators allege Bogan shot at a subject while outside an apartment and then chased the subject into the apartment. Bogan allegedly forced his way in and shot at the subject again. Both shots missed. According to Hayti police chief Paul Sheckell, Hayti police found Bogan holding a semiautomatic handgun. Officers ordered Bogan to drop the handgun, which he did, and he was arrested. Bogan is being held at the Pemiscot County Justice Center in lieu of a $25,000 cash surety bond.
