The Cape Girardeau city government was recently awarded a $253,702 grant from the Missouri Foundation for Health to fund bike lane striping, bike racks, cycling safety education and promotion of cycling's health benefits, according to a city news release.
The release said the project is a collaboration of the Cape Bike Committee, Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce, Old Town Cape, COMMrades (university student organization), Cape Bicycle, Cyclewerx and Velo Girardeau Bicycle Club.
The changes funded by the grant should be implemented by spring, the release said.
