A Cape Girardeau County woman was sentenced to federal prison Monday on one count of forgery and two counts of fraud, according to a news release from acting federal prosecutor Michael W. Reap's office. Lisa M. Poole, 48, was sentenced to 24 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Stephen Limbaugh Jr. With a previous guilty plea, Poole admitted to using accounts at Rust and Martin Inc., where she was employed between 2000 and 2007, for her personal use. The FBI investigated the case because the accounts affected interstate commerce, according to the news release. The investigation showed that, in addition to writing unauthorized checks payable to her personal account, there were unauthorized payroll checks to Poole, missing cash deposits, unpaid insurance premiums due from Poole, forged securities and unauthorized transactions with company gas and fuel credit cards.
