Cape Girardeau County officials and representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the State Emergency Management Agency will hold a meeting at 2 p.m. today at the County Administration Building, 1 Barton Square, Jackson, to discuss the latest flood insurance rating maps for the county. The preliminary maps show the latest estimates of which areas of the county are flood prone and which are protected either by elevation or levees. The maps determine flood insurance rates for homes and businesses. At the meeting, the maps as well as details of floodplain management and the appeals process will be discussed. Representatives of civic organizations, lending institutions, insurance companies and owners of real property are invited.
