The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center reports nearly 16,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine have been administered this flu season, with 5,300 going to children ages 4 to 18.

The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center reports nearly 16,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine have been administered this flu season, with 5,300 going to children ages 4 to 18.

Health center assistant director Jane Wernsman said they have been very satisfied with the numbers of people who have made sure they are protected from H1N1. The health center has received 29,000 shots. Wernsman said the state has confirmed 764 type A influenza cases in Cape Girardeau County from October

The vaccine is still available free of charge at the health center on Linden Street from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, from 2 to 6 p.m. every Friday at Schnucks, from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Cape Girardeau Walmart or from 1 to 5 p.m. Jan. 23 at Sam's Club.
