Cape Girardeau city offices will be closed Monday in observance of the Christmas holiday. City offices will reopen Tuesday.
City offices also will be closed on Jan. 2 in observance of the New Year's holiday. The offices will reopen on Jan. 3.
City crews will pick up Monday and recycling trash routes on Tuesday on both holiday weeks. Tuesday collection routes will be run on Wednesday.
A reasonable amount of extra trash will be picked up during the holiday season at no additional charge, city officials said.
Cape Girardeau residents may drop off Christmas trees at the southeast corner of Arena Park free of charge through Jan. 31. Directional signs will be posted in the park.
Residents also can schedule a Wednesday special curbside pickup of Christmas trees beginning Jan. 11. The city charges $5 for the service.
Residents can schedule the service by calling the public works department at 334-9151.
