Public hearings

Held a public hearing to consider vacating the city's interest in a 16-foot-wide alley in Grandview Subdivision between Madison and Perryville Road with replacement/establishment of a 16-foot-wide utility easement. (Agenda Item No. 22, BILL NO. 06-185).

Consent ordinances

* Changed the zoning of a portion of South Mount Auburn Road, in the city and county of Cape Girardeau, from R-1 and C-2 to C-2.

* Provided for the levying of the annual city revenue tax; library fund tax; public health tax; Special Business District No. 2 tax; for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2007.

* Authorized the acquisition of property for the installation of a sanitary sewer line along Bloomfield Road.

* Authorized the acquisition of property for the improvement of Fountain Street between Morgan Oak and William streets.

* Readopted Sections 2-76 to 2-83 of the city code relating to conflicts of interest.

* Appropriated funds for operating expenditures and capital expenditures from the Convention and Tourism Fund for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007.

* Approved the record plat of Spanish Street Condominiums Plat No. 2.

* Accepted a grant of easement from Dalhousie for sanitary sewer improvements to serve The Highlands at Dalhousie Phase III.

* Accepted a grant of easement from North Point Center for the Cape North Park Trail.

* Approved the record plat of Ashland Court Fourth Addition.

* Amended Section 30-42 of Chapter 30 of the city code regarding signs.

* Amended Schedule F of Section 26-247 of the city code, by establishing a no-parking zone in the 100 block of Sprigg Street.

* Amended Schedule F of Section 26-247 of the city code, by establishing a no-parking zone in the 200 block of Broadway.

* Accepted permanent sanitary sewer easements from various property owners for the installation of a sanitary sewer line along Bloomfield Road.

* Approved the record plat of Owens Subdivision.

* Authorized execution of an Air Traffic Control Tower Operating Assistance Grant Agreement between the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission and the city.

* Vacated an alley located in Grandview Subdivision running between Madison and Perryville Road.

* Approved amendments to the city's open burning ordinance as recommended by the Open Burning Task Force.

Resolutions

* Acknowledged receipt of an annexation petition from the city of Cape Girardeau and setting a public hearing regarding the proposed annexation.

Liquor licenses

* Granted conditional approval of a retail liquor by the drink and Sunday sales license for Nick's Family Sports Pub, 1 N. Main St., Rene Michelle Tomasino, managing officer.

* Granted conditional approval of a retail liquor by the drink and Sunday sales license for Mollie's CafZ and Bar, 11 S. Spanish St., Brian Louis Noto, managing officer.

Other

* Removed from the agenda the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission to deny the request of Elroy F. and Mary S. Kinder to rezone 3227 Bloomfield Road from C-1, local commercial district, to C-2, general commercial district; or in the alternative, a motion setting a public hearing on the request.

* Held discussion regarding the recommendations of the Open Burning Task Force.

* Held discussion regarding proposed amendments to the sign ordinance regarding garage sale signs and residential real estate signs.
