Presentations

Consent ordinances

  • Approved the record plat of a resubdivision of lots 36 and 38 of Doctors' Park.
  • Approved the record plat of Rock Creek Meadows Townhouses Phase VI.
  • Approved the record plat of Forest Hills Estates Fourth Addition.
  • Approved the record plat of the former public works subdivision phase 2.
  • Found that by reason of age, obsolescence, inadequate or outmoded design or physical deterioration a certain area in Cape Girardeau has become an economic and social liability, and that such conditions are conducive to ill health, transmission of disease, crime or inability to pay reasonable taxes, and that the redevelopment of such area is necessary and in the public interest.
  • Approved the development plan submitted for the redevelopment of that certain tract of land in Cape Girardeau, which area has been previously found to be in need of redevelopment in the public interest, said tract being described in Exhibit A; incorporating by reference Chapter 353, Revised States of Missouri 2000, as amended; and containing a severability clause.
  • Established the Town Plaza Community Improvement District and approving appointment of the initial board of directors.

Resolutions

  • Authorized the city manager to execute an engineering services contract with Heneghan and Associates for the reconstruction of Independence Street.
  • Authorized the city manager to execute a letter of agreement with Southeast Missouri State University for a historic structure inventory in Cape Girardeau.
  • Authorized the city manager to execute an agreement with Premier Fire Protection Inc. for installation of sprinkler systems at Fire Stations No. 1 and 2.
  • Gave city's intent to enter into a development agreement with Greater Missouri Builders Inc. and to take further action in the proposed Town Plaza Redevelopment Project.

Appointments

  • Made appointments to the Historic Preservation Commission.
  • Appointed Dale Kester to the University of Missouri Extension Council.

Liquor licenses

  • Approved a retail liquor by the drink license for Patricia Allen, Marquette, 338 Broadway, submitted by Patricia Allen, managing officer.
  • Approved a temporary 5 percent beer by the drink license for Michael Hurst, Optimist Club of Cape Girardeau, for an event to be held April 28 at the Missouri Dry Dock parking lot at the corner of Themis and Water streets.

Other

  • Approved a business license to Sharon D. Karaker, Cruisin' Kids Club, to operate a shuttle service within the city of Cape Girardeau.
  • Accepted into the city's system the improvements completed to serve Ashland Court Fourth Subdivision as shown on the approved plans, authorizing the release of escrow, and authorizing payment for the construction of Vantage Drive for $114,932.99
