The Cape Girardeau man who pleaded guilty to beating a man so severely police said the victim's blood was splattered on the walls of crime scene received a 20-year prison sentence Monday. Brandon Moss, 33, pleaded guilty last month to an assault that occurred March 20 in a home on Bloomfield Street. Moss' attorney Ted Liszewski declined to comment on the sentencing. Police responded that morning to a report of a broken-out window at the 1800 block of Bloomfield Street. Police looked in the window and saw a man lying face down on the floor with blood splattered on the wall and the floor. The man was unresponsive and was taken to an area hospital. Police arrested Moss and Brandon Geiger, 20, on suspicion of assault later that day. Geiger pleaded not guilty in July and will appear in court Oct. 11 for a case review.
