CAPE CREW 'OFTEN TESTED, NEVER BESTED'

Karen Campbell of Cape Girardeau used a military vehicle mirror to put the final touches on her camouflage before launching into the annual Bodine competition held at Wappapello.

Campbell is a member of HHC Co. 1140th Engineering Battalion in Cape Girardeau.

The annual competition is designed to test the knowledge and experience of members of the 1140th. The inter-battalion contest test individual soldiers and the squads to see who can walk away with the title "Best in the Battalion."

The competition tests response to chemical and biological agents, enemy attack, land navigation and jungle survival.

Campbell and her squad tied for first place with a squad from B Company in Perryville/Jackson.
