An emergency services helicopter spotted Weaver's abandoned rafter about two miles up creek from where he had put in at about 3 a.m. Tuesday. Weaver's body was discovered in about eight feet of water a short distance from the raft.

Perry County Coroner Patrick Naeger said Weaver was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. Tuesday, but an autopsy has been ordered to rule out foul play.
