JACKSON-Cape Girardeau County residents will vote for members of the University Extension Council during the first part of January 1991. The Ballots for this election will be in local newspapers the week of January 14, 1991. Voting instructions and candidate information will also be included.
Ballots may be returned by mail, on or before January 25, 1991, or brought to the Extension Center in Jackson. To complete a ballot vote for one of each pair of nominees listed by placing an X in the square in front of the nominee's name. Ballots will also be available at the Extension Center in Jackson.
Council Members nominated and information about each candidate follows: Robert E. LaRue - Jackson: Retired Airline Pilot. Currently serving on REA Board of Directors, Scout Troop Committeeman and Scout Council District Unit Commissioner.
Mack Wilson - Cape Girardeau: Associate Professor of Agriculture at SEMO University. Received P.H.D. in Horticulture at University Of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1979. Taught at Florida A & M in Tallahassee and at Tuskegee Institute, Alabama. Member of Professional Black Men's Club of Southeast Missouri working with Project Achievement and Juvenile Court Program. Helped with Phone-A-Thon for the Martin Luther King Scholarship Program at SEMO. Member of Alabama Academy of Science. CHI GAMMA IOTA - Veterans Scholastic Honor Society, GAMMA SIGMA DELTA - Honor Society of Agriculture. Southern Region Society for Horticulture Science, American Society for Horticulture Science. Missouri Academy of Science. Member of Church of Christ of Cape Girardeau. Wife - Dollie, 1 daughter Dawn.
Denise Johnson - Jackson: Clerk at Pioneer Market. Vice President of Happy Homemakers Extension Homemakers Club. Husband, Michael, 2 daughters; Andrea and Kristy. Lived in area for 16 years.
Mrs. John (Ellen) Lorberg - Gordonville: Presently serving on Extension Council. Homemaker - working partner in Farm Operation. Member of Christ Lutheran Church, Gordonville, member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League serving on local, zone and Mo. District level. Member of Progressive Extension Homemakers Club. Volunteer with St. Louis Iron Mountain Railroad. Enjoys bowling, furniture refinishing. Family: Son in Family Farm operation, Daughter in 9th grad, 2 grandchildren.
Lawson B. Burgfeld - Jackson: Livestock Enforcement Officer, Missouri Dept. of Agriculture. 4-H project leader for 10 years. Member 4-H/FFA Livestock Sale Committee for SEMO Fair. Assistant 4-H Club Leader. Member American Legion & Mo. Cattleman's Association. 1972 Grad of SEMO University. Lieutenant U.S. Navy Reserves. Mike Ervin - Cape Girardeau: Presently serving on Extension Council. Building Contractor. Member of the Cape Optimist Club and President elect Southeast Missouri Home Builders Association.
Chris N. Weiss - Jackson: Attorney, Lichtenegger, Payne and Weiss in Jackson. Member of Jackson Rotary Club, Jackson Jaycees, Cape County Farm Bureau Board Member, 1990 Jackson Girl Scout Fund Drive Chairman. Steve Birk - Jackson: Line Tech. at Procter and Gamble/Beef Cattle Producer. Larry Hanning - Burfordville: Entomologist for the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Interest: Horticulture, greenhouses, nurseries, gardening, pests and diseases.
Larry Quade - Chaffee: Farmer. Member of SEMO No-Till Club. Host of Summer No-Till Tour for University Extension. Served on the Extension Council one term.
Charles Hinkebein - Chaffee. Farmer and Hog Producer, farms 850 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat and milo, 700 acres is irrigated. Raise Hogs - farrow 60 sows and sells weaning pigs. Member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church of Chaffee, St. Ambrose Men's Club, Chaffee Elk's 1810, Seed dealer with DeKalb Pfizer Genetics.
