JACKSON - The Cape Girardeau County Democratic and Republican party central committees will take a major step toward gearing up for the fall campaign tonight by reorganizing and electing party officers.
Committeemen and committeewomen were chosen in the Aug. 4 primary election in each voting precinct of the county, and they make up the party central committees.
Democrats will gather at 7:30 p.m. in the ground floor of the county administration building in Jackson, while Republicans will meet at 7:30 at Delmonico's Restaurant.
Todd McBride, who has been chairman of the Democratic committee for six years, said last week he was unsure whether he would seek re-election to another term.
Ralph Ford, who is serving his first term as the GOP chairman, has advised members of his committee that he would like to be re-elected. Ford, however, will not be at tonight's meeting because he is a delegate to the Republican National Convention.
