Cape Girardeau County commissioners approved Thursday a revised two-year contract with Tipton Linen to provide rugs and other items at county buildings.
Under the previous contract, Tipton Linen provided rugs, mats and replaceable mop heads twice a month for the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse, the Cape Girardeau Common Pleas Courthouse and annex building and the Cape Girardeau County Administrative Building.
Pete Frazier, Cape Girardeau County auditor, addressed the commissioners. He said the revised contract says the amount of deliveries would be reduced by half from 26, the number in the original contract, to 13 times a year. The reduction would save the county $748.20.
Commissioners said the contract could be revisited if the reduction of deliveries did not continue to provide satisfaction with the quality and appearance of the buildings.
"It's good to always look at ways to reduce costs," 2nd District Commissioner Jay Purcell said. "The only thing I would say is looking at the numbers, let's just really make sure we don't sacrifice quality."
