JEFFERSON CITY -- Rodney Miller, Cape Girardeau County clerk, has been selected to serve a three-year term on the Missouri Local Records Board.
Secretary of State Rebecca M. Cook of Cape Girardeau announced the appointment Friday.
The Local Records Board is a regulatory agency mandated by state law to establish record-keeping procedures statewide for all local governments. Members of the board include representatives from all areas of local government.
All documents that originate in a local government office are subject to statutory guidelines on a state level. The records board engages in planning the short- and long-term management of the documents throughout the state.
Guidelines established by the board enable officials to efficiently document the work of government, Cook said.
Some documents qualify for grants through the secretary of state's office.
Other officials and specialists in records management and archive services named to the board were Mary Berry, DeKalb County clerk; Carol Gaddy, Phelps County circuit clerk; Joy Helms, chairman of the Lake Mykee board of trustees in Callaway County; Mark Hudson, curator of the Boone County Historical Society; and Delbert Sanders, supervisor of records management and manager of duplicating services in Kansas City.
