A thief assaulted a Cape Girardeau video store clerk and stole adult entertainment-related items during a Monday night robbery.
The robbery and attack at Semo Video, 501 Broadway, occurred around 5:40 p.m., according to police officer Jeffrey Nichols.
Police were searching for the assailant, who was caught on a store surveillance tape kicking the 30-year-old store clerk in her face.
The "field-goal kick" knocked the clerk out for a short time, Nichols said. She was taken to a local hospital for facial injuries.
No cash was stolen, but the thief took two bags of adult entertainment items worth at least $195, Nichols said.
The attacker is believed to be left handed, Nichols added, because the kick was with his left leg and he was seen picking up items with his left hand.
Anyone with information on the robbery and assault is urged to call Cape Girardeau police at 335-6621.
