The candidate list for April's board of aldermen and mayoral races in Jackson hasn't changed since the first week of filing. Jackson City Clerk Mary Lowry said with deadline for filing having passed Tuesday, there were no candidates opposing incumbents in any of the races. Ward 2 incumbent David Hitt and Ward 3 incumbent Mark Dambach face no opponents in their bids for re-election. Jim Shank and Wanda Young have filed to fill the seat being vacated by Ward 1 Aldermen Phil Penzel. Shank, a longtime Jackson resident, has been in the news as the father of a soldier killed in Iraq and as the widower of Deborah Shank, the former Walmart employee involved in a lawsuit with the retail chain. Young is a retired Jackson school teacher. There is a three-way race for the Ward 4 seat being vacated by Alderman Dale Rauh. Retired police officer Tommy Ray Kimbel, retired Southern Baptist pastor and owner of SEMO Options, Howard Duer and developer Ron Clark have filed to run for Rauh's position.
