Effects of the 2009 recession resulted in difficult but necessary cuts being implemented to formulate a balanced budget by 2010. Since then Bollinger County has run in the black, and this needs to continue; don't spend what isn't there. Residents can try to shop more locally. Leaders and citizens should be aware and protest legislation that takes proceeds from our County such as HB 1329, which will remove much of our auto sales tax revenue.
We are a rural County without an interstate, railway, or major river crossing our borders. However, even without these we have a variety of employment fields - with our own citizens being one of the greatest resources to improve employment. Let's be positive and encourage those from within and without that would like to establish new businesses in our County to do so.
Keep our County moving forward and remain the County of pride that many have grown up in; a place where our children and grandchildren can live and work and have the best of rural living. Improvements and growth on highways and infrastructures are a must to invite businesses into our region. Lobbying legislators and MoDot to keep our share of state revenue coming to rural roadway projects such as those on highways 34 and 51.
There are many in our community going through difficult times. Situations that make you forget about finances, budgets, or things we just want. Remember your neighbor and help them when you can. Let's not forget the One who sustains and keeps us. God allowed you life in a free country, and put you in one of the greatest places in the world to live - Bollinger County, Missouri.
