FUNDING FOR 911 COMMUNICATIONS HAS BEEN A MAJOR TOPIC IN RECENT YEARS. WHAT DO YOU PROPOSE TO ADDRESS THE FUNDING PROBLEM?

Currently 911 communications is funded by a landline telephone tax. Due to more and more people opting to have cell phones only and doing away with their landline phones, the funding is drying up. I am proposing a cell phone tax to replace the loss of revenue due to less landline phones.

WHAT STEPS CAN THE COMMISSION TAKE TO BRING JOBS TO SCOTT COUNTY?

Our goal as a commission is to stay proactive and involved with municipal, economical and educational leaders in our area. With the interstates, railroads and river (including the SEMO Port Authority) we have to continue to market our area for economic growth. We also can work with our surrounding counties to produce jobs that benefit the people of Scott County. It is also imperative that we support our educational facilities in expanding vocational needs.

CLOSING REMARKS:

I would like to thank all the citizens of Scott County for their support over the last four years I have served as District 2 County Commissioner. Although challenging at times, it is a true pleasure to serve the people of this great county. When the voters go to the polls, I would like to ask for their continued support for the next four years.
