WHAT'S THE BIGGEST NEED YOU HOPE TO ADDRESS IF ELECTED?
I would like to continue to support classroom teachers. The new curriculum changes will take a while to adjust to our school district. Working together to implement the changes will be crucial. During my 27 years of teaching, I witnessed and helped implement several curriculum changes. During those years, I felt teacher opinions were highly valued. My advice to the administration has been and will continue to be, ask the people on the front lines. They are the experts in the field. We must ask for and listen to their opinions.
WHY ARE YOU THE BEST CANDIDATE?
I love the Jackson School District as I love my family. I have been involved with the district in many different positions. As a student, bus driver, teacher, and board member. I feel my experiences at these jobs have allowed me to know the district from top to bottom. If experience is the best teacher, I certainly have had the best teacher. I have been with the district for 50 years as a student or employee. I understand what it is like to be in the classroom with 30 students everyday and driving a schoolbus with 60 student passengers. It is through these experiences that I feel I'm qualified to speak for students and teachers.
