__Name:__ Brad E. Noel
__Age:__ 43
__Place of birth:__ Springfield, MO
__Spouse, children's names:__ Wife- Jill Gentry-Noel 1989 Jackson Graduate
Daughter- Lindsey 8th grade
Son- Jason 4th grade
__Occupation:__ Water Utility Foreman
__Employer:__ City of Jackson
__Businesses owned, all or part:__ None
__Previous offices held or sought:__ Previously ran for Jackson R-2 School Board
__What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?:__
Since my daughter began attending the district in 2004 I have developed numerous relationships within Jackson R-2. Combined with the fact that my wife is a teacher of 20 years I have developed tremendous insight as to what the true needs are for teachers to succeed. They must be respected, supported, and given an equal seat at the table of the education process. Working on the Math Standards group has enhanced this knowledge as well.
__What do you see as the opportunities and challenges in the district?:__
The biggest opportunity is being able to reduce class sizes. Several challenges come to mind, in agreement with some of my competitors', security ranks near the top along with the challenge of teacher retention. We have experienced a lot of turnover lately and in speaking to many who left I discovered they took cuts in pay, benefits, and credit for years of service in their new jobs. This directly relates to the previous questions answer.
__How will you communicate your work to your constituents?:__
The communication process in Jackson R-2 is broken and stifling at best. I will make myself available at all times to the employees and citizens. I would like to see a district email address for each board member. I would also like to see and would work very hard for a more open communication process at the monthly board meetings. The current process is very standoffish and in need of modification.
__What are the factors on which you will base your decisions as a school board member?:__
The needs of the students, teachers, and ancillary staff will be first and foremost. I will, as I always have, rely on the input from our employees, parents, and community. I will continue to research each item that comes up on my own and combine that with the input from the afore mentioned to make the most informed decision I can. I will do this while also being fiscally responsible with our taxpayers' money.
