With filing for the April municipal election starting Tuesday, Jackson Mayor Barbara Lohr said she plans to file for re-election.

"I do enjoy the job and feel that we have made real progress as a city," she said.

Along with the mayor's office, four alderman positions are also up for election.

Five-term Alderman Phil Penzel said he will not be seeking another term. He said it was a difficult decision to make but that he wanted to be able to devote more time to his family. Penzel did not rule out running for alderman or other political office in the future.

For the past four years, Penzel has served as the president of the board, a position appointed by the mayor.
