JACKSON -- John Jordan, Darlene Bonney, and Larry Bock have edges over their opponents in campaign spending, show seven-day campaign finance disclosure reports filed with the county clerk's office.
Jordan, who faces Democrat Benny Hinton for the remaining two years of a term as sheriff, has raised $13,322 and spent $9,784. Since the 40-day reports were filed, Jordan has raised $5,400 and spent $3,757.
Hinton reported receipts of $9,661 and expenditures of $6,992. For the reporting period he took in $2,800 and spent $4,558.
Hinton has loaned $2,000 to his campaign, while Jordan has loaned his effort $3,000.
Jordan has spent about $1,700 on newspaper ads and $1,300 on radio ads. His largest contribution was an in-kind donation of $1,585 by Tom and Carol Sparkman, who hosted a fund-raiser for him.
Hinton spent nearly $2,000 for bags and brochures from Custom Graphics, and reported $650 for radio ads and $660 for yard signs and bumper stickers.
His largest contribution was $500 from Eastern Missouri Laborers Education and Benevolent Fund.
In the recorder's race, Bonney lists receipts of $13,850 and expenditures of $12,268 in her race against Democratic incumbent Janet Robert. Of her receipts, Bonney has provided $10,200 of it in personal loans.
Robert lists receipts of $8,610 and expenditures of $8,155. She has loaned $950 to the campaign.
Robert has spent $4,100 on radio ads and $1,250 on newspaper ads.
Bonney's largest expenditures were $1,500 to Red Letter Communications for letters, and $1,026 to Holiday Inn for fund-raising expenses.
Bock, running for another term as 1st District associate commissioner, has receipts of $9,426 and expenditures of $8,929 for the election, which also reflects some costs of running a primary race against a challenger.
His opponent, Democrat Jack Piepenbrok, lists receipts of $6,037 and expenditures of $1,757. His largest contribution was $1,000 from Glen Seabaugh of Jackson.
Of the money raised by Bock, $7,500 is from personal loans he made.
Bock's largest expense was listed as $2,246 to Red Letter Communications for advertising.
