CAIRO, Ill. -- The Cairo City Council has agreed to name a street here in honor of slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and will schedule a public hearing to discuss the matter in the near future.
"We have to decide on which street," said Cairo Mayor James Wilson. "There's a lot to be considered in a change like this, such as mailing addresses on the street. I want to have a public hearing on the matter."
The council approval came during the latest city council meeting last week.
