CAIRO, Ill. -- The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the Cairo bridge over the Mississippi River, carrying U.S. 60/62, will be closed Monday through Aug. 22 to allow crews to conduct required safety inspections of the structure. The bridge will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. In addition, the span will be restricted to one lane during daylight hours from Aug. 23 through 31.
