The Southeast Missouri Business Group on Health has chosen Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Missouri as its health insurance vendor.
The choice was made Thursday by the group's Insurance Project Committee and in conjunction with its board of directors, according to a letter sent to member companies.
The Southeast Missouri Business Group on Health was incorporated in 1991 to represent businesses that are major purchasers of health care services. It is intended to create a more cost-efficient health care industry while maintaining high-quality service.
The group now has about 60 members, including many of the largest companies in Cape Girardeau.
Mary Dunn, the group's executive director, said in her letter announcing the vendor: "Our decision is solid and well founded. We are excited about what we can do together in Southeast Missouri. It is our hope that the medical community will continue to be supportive and share in our excitement as we all move forward as partners in this venture."
The group's annual meeting will be held April 28 at Drury Lodge. Sean Sullivan, president of the National Business Coalition Forum on Health, will be the featured speaker
