Local students from Metro Business College were honored at the annual Missouri Phi Beta Lambda state leadership conference recently. Phi Beta Lambda, a national business fraternity, recognized Jennifer Cabaniss of Scott City as the first place recipient of the Phi Beta Lambda "Who's Who in Phi Beta Lambda" for 2007 at the annual conference. More than 250 were in attendance.
Cabaniss has been the president of the Metro Business College Phi Beta Lambda chapter for the past year. She has organized and chaired fund-raising projects for PBL including leading the fund-raising efforts for March of Dimes, MDA and Cape Girardeau Vision House.
Tim Simmons of Commerce, Mo., received a fourth-place award for public speaking. He is vice president for the Metro PBL chapter.
Josh Duncan of Cape Girardeau received a fourth-place award for computer applications. He is treasurer for the Metro PBL chapter.
Both Simmons and Duncan have also been active in the chapter's charity efforts during the past year.
The Metro PBL chapter received recognition as the second largest fund-raising chapter in Missouri for March of Dimes in 2006. This chapter was also recognized locally as the third largest overall fund-raiser for the March of Dimes in the Cape Girardeau area for 2006.
