JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- President Bush is scheduled to appear at a fundraiser for Republican gubernatorial candidate Kenny Hulshof next week.
The Oct. 3 fundraiser is to be held at Hunter Farms in St. Louis County.
Hulshof campaign spokesman Scott Baker confirmed Friday that Bush is to attend.
An invitation from Hulshof's campaign lists Gov. Matt Blunt, Sen. Kit Bond and a former Sen. John Danforth as honorary chairman for the fundraising dinner.
The invitation requests a donation of $10,000 to $25,000 per couple to attend a private reception and photo opportunity with the president.
Democrats suggested Friday that it's wrong for Bush to be campaigning for Hulshof during a national credit market crisis.
But Baker notes the fundraiser is a week from now, and Congress is trying to work on economic legislation this weekend.
