One business is consolidating and two are expanding as the result of a real-estate transaction involving a downtown building.
The building housing part of Monroe Glass Co., 221 Merriwether, was purchased by Hutson Enterprises from the Monroe Family Trust.
Monroe Glass has resituated its 221 Merriwether operations to its building at Spanish and Merriwether. Its PPG auto-finishes sales and windshield replacement and repair were housed there.
Monroe manager and co-owner Charles Haubold said the original building was remodeled slightly to accommodate the consolidation. The company's second facility was at 221 Merriwether for about 15 years.
Girardeau Distributors Inc., will move from 110 Merriwether to 221 Merriwether to take advantage of more floor space and a truck-dock facility. Owner Jeff Hutson said the move hopefully will be complete by mid-July.
Girardeau Distributors is a 15-year-old company that distributes floor-covering installation supplies on a wholesale basis in the Midwest.
Hutson Enterprises will use Girardeau Distributors' former space plus additional space at 221 Merriwether for warehousing for Hutson Furniture Co.
Haubold said the transaction and move is beneficial to all the businesses involved.
