Brown Bag Video owner arrested in drug bust
McCLURE, Ill. -- Richard M. Thompson, co-owner of Brown Bag video in McClure, was arrested Thursday on drug-related charges, according to the Alexander County Sheriff's Department. Thompson, the president of the corporation that owns the adult video store, was charged with unauthorized production of marijuana, according to a news release from the sheriff's department. Police from the sheriff's department, Southern Illinois Drug Task Force and Illinois State Police arrested Thompson, 56, at his McClure residence at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Two others, Jeffrey L. Shelley, 41, of McClure, and Cass A. Silver, 18, of Ottawa, Ill., were arrested at Thompson's house and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
