Cape Girardeau downtown restaurant owner Phil Brinson kicked off his campaign for state representative on Thursday, telling about 20 supporters in front of the Broadway floodgate that his business experience sets him apart. Brinson, who owns Buckner Brewing Co., described himself as a conservative Republican. He is one of three candidates seeking the 158th District state representative seat in the August Republican primary. The other two are lawyer Nathan Cooper and social studies teacher Pete Frazier.
