ST. LOUIS -- The Boeing Co. and Lockheed Martin Corp. are teaming up to bid on the anticipated U.S. Air Force Next Generation Bomber program, even before requirements have firmed up, the companies said Friday. They said they hope to be selected to design and build what will eventually become the next Air Force bomber. The Air Force has said it's looking to have a "next generation" long-range bomber by 2018. The Air Force has said it needs a subsonic, manned bomber that could travel 2,000 miles before refueling.

University planning forum set for Feb. 18

More than 150 people will receive invitations next week to participate in a strategic planning forum Feb. 18 for Southeast Missouri State University. The plan will outline priorities and goals for the university for the next three to five years. The 13-member Strategic Planning Steering Commmittee met Friday to determine who to invite, deciding on students, deans, legislators, superintendents and area business representatives, among others.
