Organizations offer holiday assistance

Families in need of assistance with providing toys to their children can sign up now for help with the holiday load. Families inside city limits can sign up for Toybox at the Salvation Army through Nov. 30. Families outside the city limits, but inside Cape Girardeau County, can sign up for Toys for Tots at the Division and Family Services at 220 N. Fountain St. Bollinger and Perry County families can sign up at the Division and Family Services office for their counties.

Rules meeting planned for girls basketball

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will hold the rules meeting for the 2008 Girls Youth Basketball League on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Osage Community Centre. Those who have a team that would like to participate in the league are asked attend the meeting. Rules will be distributed and T-shirt colors will be selected. The deadline to participate in the league is Friday at 5 p.m. The first Saturday of play will be Jan. 5 and will continue until mid March. For more information, contact Amy Roth at 334-2859.

Senior center to host holiday dance Dec. 1

A holiday dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at Cape Girardeau Senior Center at 921 N. Clark St. "BriRon Production Co." will provide the music again. For more information, call 335-1352 or 332-7040.
