The decorative lights on the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge will remain dark for a while, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

MoDOT turned off the lights March 11 because water was accumulating inside some of the light fixtures. Stan Johnson, an area MoDOT engineer, said the agency still does not know how water got inside.

"The contractor is working with the supplier and the supplier is working with the manufacturer," Johnson said. "We really don't have a good feel for how long that's going to take."
