GORDONVILLE -- Harvey Brase has been a familiar face around Gordonville fore more than 20 years. Last week he finally received recognition for his many contributions.

The long-time city marshal, Brase has served the city in a variety of ways, including mowing, helping with city projects and helping organize the annual Fire Department picnic. He retired this summer after 20 years with the city.

"Harvey is very well thought of and is a very fine gentleman," said Lisa Sparkman, who presented a plaque to Brase, on behalf of the city. "When he was city marshal, the kids would all come up to his car and visit. In a close-knit community, those things mean a lot."

"I always got along with children pretty good," Brase agreed.

"We really appreciate all Harvey has done for us," Sparkman added.
