Boyd Gaming Corp. plans to make street, water and sewer improvements to accommodate its riverboat gambling venture in Cape Girardeau. Under a tentative development plan, Boyd would:
Build a northbound connector road from William to Water Street.
Make Water Street one-way northbound, between Independence and Broadway.
Make Broadway three lanes westbound between Water and Main streets.
Vacate northbound lane of Main Street from Merriwether to William, and create an additional parking area.
Restripe William Street to create two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane between Main and Lorimier streets.
Restripe the existing pavement at William and Sprigg to provide right-turn, through and left-turn lane for eastbound traffic on William.
Widen the northeast corner of the William and Sprigg.
Redirect traffic from Spanish Street onto Lorimier, for access from Morgan Oak to William.
Construct traffic signals at Morgan Oak and Lorimier intersection.
Construct traffic signals and pedestrian crosswalk at Lorimier and William.
Widen the east side of Main 6 feet between Broadway and Bellevue to provide a right-turn lane into the casino parking garage.
Install traffic signals at Main and Broadway.
Realign and widen Main between Mill and Mason. Main from Mason to Bellevue would be restriped for three lanes of traffic to provide access into the casino parking lots.
Add 14 parking spaces along the west side of Indian Park in the Fountain Street right of way.
Install larger water main and new sewer lines.
Make stormwater improvements.
