Brandon Brown, of Montrose, Mo., was playing with friends about 12:30 p.m. when he waded downstream away from the group, the Missouri State Water Patrol said. The boy slipped, fell into a 3-foot hole and drowned.
His body was recovered about 20 minutes later.
