BEL-RIDGE, Mo. (AP) -- A 7-year-old girl remains hospitalized a day after a fire at a suburban St. Louis home that killed her 5-year-old brother. The fire was reported about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in Bel-Ridge. The boy is identified as Rashaad Roberts. He was sleeping when the fire began, while the girl, Rashelle Thompson, was in the kitchen. BEL-RIDGE, Mo. (AP) -- A 7-year-old girl remains hospitalized a day after a fire at a suburban St. Louis home that killed her 5-year-old brother.

The fire was reported about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in Bel-Ridge. The boy is identified as Rashaad Roberts. He was sleeping when the fire began, while the girl, Rashelle Thompson, was in the kitchen. She is being treated for smoke inhalation at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Her condition was not released.

The children's grandfather was sleeping in the basement and escaped unharmed.
