STEELE, Mo. -- A Pemiscot County man was listed in critical condition Tuesday morning after suffering severe burns police said he received when his brother doused him in gasoline.
According to authorities involved in the investigation, on Saturday officers were dispatched to 504 S. Walnut St. in reference to Sandy Simmons, who was severely burned and subsequently flown to a hospital in Memphis, Tenn., for treatment of his injuries.
Officials with the department launched an investigation which reportedly revealed that the victim's brother, Richard Simmons, was responsible for the crime, and was later charged with second-degree assault through a warrant issued by Pemiscot County Judge Keith Currie. Simmons was being held on a cash-only bond amount of $25,000.
