CAIRO, Ill. -- Friday classes at all Cairo public schools were cancelled late Friday after Illinois State Police received 911 calls warning that pipe bombs were in all the school buildings.
Cairo High School principal Carl Riley said the district activated an emergency calling tree to tell parents to keep their children at home plus alerted the media.
An Illinois State Police spokesman said officers went through the school Friday night, but the investigation is continuing.
