A precautionary boil-water order is in effect in Cape Girardeau until noon on Wednesday for residents of the northern part of the city. Workers are repairing a water line after it was hit by a contractor, said city spokeswoman Nicolette Brennan. Service should be restored by 4 p.m. today, but the city will continue to flush and test water lines.

Residents of the following streets should boil any water they intend to ingest, cook or use to clean.
