Boil-water order for northern part of Cape in effect until Wednesday

A precautionary boil-water order is in effect in Cape Girardeau until noon on Wednesday for residents of the northern part of the city. Workers are repairing a water line after it was hit by a contractor, said city spokeswoman Nicolette Brennan. Service should be restored by 4 p.m. today, but the city will continue to flush and test water lines.

Residents of the following streets should boil any water they intend to ingest, cook or use to clean.

• Route W north of Boutin Drive
• Dux Landing
• Paiute Lane
• Cody Lane
• Shephard Lane
• Route W Trailer Court (South and North Street and A-F Streets)
• Brandy Lane to Stone Creek Drive
• Ashley Drive
• Sandia Lane
• County Road 618
