FISK, Mo. — Authorities recovered a body from a pond near Fisk they believe could be a missing man from Butler County, Missouri.

The body and vehicle were recovered about 7 p.m. Friday from a pond near the intersection of U.S. 60 and Highway 51 in Stoddard County, near the Butler County line.

Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs said it is possible the body is that of 50-year-old Timothy Harbin, of the 200 block of County Road 632, who’d been missing since April.

Hefner said two men were fishing in the pond earlier in the day Friday when they saw what they believed was a vehicle beneath the water’s surface.

Divers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol entered the water and discovered the body about 7 p.m. Friday.

Family members reported Harbin missing April 5. The last known sighting of Harbin was April 2 on video surveillance footage at K&J Git-N-Go convenience store in Fisk. The convenience store is about one mile from where the body was discovered.

Authorities said Harbin pulled into the parking lot in his black 1999 Ford pickup and entered the store, where he purchased items.

He left the store, got in his truck and left.

Authorities said Harbin didn’t appear to be under duress.

No one else appeared to be in the truck, and luggage identified as belonging to Harbin was visible in the truck bed, according to authorities.
