Boatmen's National Bank of Cape Girardeau has donated a computer network system valued at $12,600 to the Southeast Missouri University Foundation capital campaign.
"We are very pleased with this most generous donation by Boatmen's Bank," said Donald K. Ford, director of University Development, "The computer system includes nine computer terminals and associated hardware, a fax, a modem, network software, and communication and accounting software."
The gift is designated for the Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts. Dr. Bill Snell, associate professor of psychology, said, "The department has needed computers for quite some time, but in today's environment of tight budgeting, we could not have afforded to buy computers such as these given by Boatmen's.
"The computer system will allow all Psychology Department faculty and staff to be on the same network, and that network, in turn, will have access to the University's mainframe computer. That will be a tremendous help in advising students in course selection. In addition, we can now provide our students with computer-assisted instruction and tutorials in psychology."
"Boatmen's has been a strong supporter to our capital campaign, said Dr. Robert W. Foster, executive director of the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. "The bank's Senior Vice President Kenneth Hayden and its President and CEO James Limbaugh, who served as the general chair of the campaign, both went above and beyond our expectations in their support of the campaign."
