ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis could have a new police chief soon.
The Board of Police Commissioners on Monday began two days of interviews of applicants for the job vacated when Joe Mokwa retired in July. KTVI-TV reports a new chief could be named on Wednesday.
Assistant Chief Stephen Pollihan has been serving as interim chief, and is among 13 internal applicants for the top job.
Mokwa retired amid a federal investigation into a towing lot scandal in which police officers were allegedly allowed lengthy use of impounded cars.
