JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Gov. Matt Blunt's office has provided almost 3,000 pages of documents to investigators for Attorney General Jay Nixon.

But that covers only a small part of what Nixon's investigators requested.

Nixon appointed investigators last fall to look into potential e-mail deletions in Blunt's office. That came after a Blunt attorney claimed he was fired for advising the governor's office that it was violating Missouri's open-records law.

Nixon's investigators made 45 specific requests in January. Blunt's office provided records for just two of those -- both relating to previous records requests from the media.

Blunt says it could cost more than $540,000 to provide the rest.

Nixon and Blunt attorneys are trying to negotiate a lower cost.
